Presentation of the AURORA Energy Tracker Mobile App

Yesterday, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering hosted the public premiere of the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile app. The event was attended by a large number of students from the faculty. The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Marko Topič, Dean of the Faculty, who stressed to the students the importance of the green transition. Dr. Matevž Bokalič then explained and described in detail the functioning of the mobile application, including the guided registration process and the first concrete data entry. In the final part, Matej Guštin presented a prize game for the users of the mobile application. Every month we will draw a user of the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile app who will receive a six-pack (of doughnuts).

General terms and conditions of participation and rules of the “AURORA Energy Tracker” prize draw

1. Organizer
These rules define the procedures for the “AURORA Energy Tracker” prize game (hereinafter: prize game), organized by ŠEK Študentski energetski klub, Tržaška ulica 25, 1000 Ljubljana (hereinafter: organizer), and implemented by the Laboratory for Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Tržaška ulica 25, 1000 Ljubljana (hereinafter: implementer).

All data and information are provided to the organizer or the implementer.

2. Duration and Purpose of the Prize Game
The purpose of the prize game is to promote the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile application, developed within the AURORA project. The game will take place from November 24, 2023, at 13:00, until April 30, 2024.

3. Consent
By participating in the prize game, i.e., by sending the “log” file obtained from the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile application, individual participants are considered to fully accept all the general conditions and rules of the prize game stated here. Each participant is obligated to familiarize themselves with the general conditions and rules of the prize game published on the website of ŠEK Študentski energetski klub, www.http://www.s3k.si/, before participating.

4. Participants
Participants in the prize game can be students and employees of the University of Ljubljana. Employees of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering working at the organizer or implementer of this prize game, their immediate family members (spouse, unmarried partner, children or adoptees, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and parents or adoptive parents of the employee), and other persons directly involved in the implementation of the prize game are not eligible to participate.

Each participant can only participate in the prize game in their own name, confirming that all provided personal data are their own.

For the purpose of conducting this prize game and fulfilling the intended purpose, the winner will provide the organizer or the implementer with the following information: name and surname, telephone number.

5. Prize Pool
The entire prize pool consists of six (6) prizes. Each prize is a “Package of six Trojan donuts,” valued at EUR 8.36 + VAT (value of one package). The prize cannot be exchanged or claimed for its cash equivalent.

6. Prize Game
Participants in the prize game must send the “log file” from the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile application, their name and surname, and telephone number to the address aurora@s3k.si. Users obtain the log file from the application under settings/data protection/download my data. Users send the log file from the 1st to the 10th day of the month. The log file must contain data on the use of the mobile application for the previous month. Each user can only send the log file from their mobile application, which is verified by the accuracy of the “userID” field.

Participants can participate in the prize game every month.

7. Drawing of Winners
The drawing of winners will be conducted by a two-member commission based on the principle of random drawing, consisting of one person from the implementer and one person from the organizer. The drawing will be exclusively among users of the AURORA mobile application who precisely follow the instructions of the prize game. Each month, one recipient of the prize will be drawn from all senders of “log files.”

The drawing will take place from the 11th to the 17th day of the month. The drawing can be conducted publicly.

In addition to the options mentioned above for winning the prize, the drawn winner will also be informed via a phone call to the number provided when sending the “log file” and to the email address from which they sent the “log file.”

8. Prize Collection
The condition for receiving the prizes is that participants meet the conditions defined by the rules and conditions of participation in the prize game. The drawn winner, since the prize is fresh food, can collect it within 24 hours or by the next day at the latest by 2:00 pm.

If not otherwise agreed with the winner, the prize can be collected at the Laboratory for Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

The organizer reserves the right not to award prizes if:

The winner does not meet the conditions for receiving the prize,
Doubts arise about the identity of the data,
It is determined that the winner participated in the prize game contrary to the rules and conditions of the prize game.

9. Disclaimer
The organizer and the implementer do not assume any responsibility for any consequences that participants may suffer due to participating in the prize game.

10. Personal Data Protection
The drawn winner agrees to the public announcement of the drawing results and their name and surname on the website and social media channels of the organizer and the AURORA project.

As data controllers for the personal data of participants and prize winners of the prize game, the organizer and the implementer collect, maintain, and process a collection of personal data of prize game participants and winners solely for the purpose of conducting the prize game, in accordance with these rules.

The organizer and the implementer use and process only personal data provided by the participant. The participant is also responsible for the accuracy and correctness of the given data and is obliged to inform the organizer and/or the implementer promptly in case of any changes to this data.

Participants have the right to request information about their personal data processed by the organizer and the implementer at any time, and by objection, they have the right to request the cessation of their processing in cases where the organizer and/or the implementer process data based on their legitimate interest, especially if the organizer uses personal data for direct marketing purposes.

All personal data will be protected with appropriate organizational and technical measures and will be handled lawfully and fairly, and in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.

Participants are informed and explicitly agree that the organizer may entrust certain tasks related to the processing of obtained personal data to a data processor in the EU and/or outside the EU (a natural or legal person processing personal data on behalf of the data controller of the database). In this case, the organizer will transfer data lawfully and select a data processor that meets the prescribed security standards, ensuring a high level of personal data protection.

Participants are aware and expressly agree that the organizer may assign certain tasks related to the processing of obtained personal data to a contractual data processor, i.e., the executor for the purpose of drawing winners. The contractual data processor may process personal data only within the scope of the authorization or order received from the organizer, in accordance with applicable law and with defined purposes.

Personal data are used and stored until revoked by the participants, in accordance with these rules unless the law prescribes otherwise.

11. Tax Obligations
The organizer will calculate and pay an advance tax on personal income from prizes whose gross value might exceed the value stipulated by law for income tax payment in accordance with applicable regulations. This applies to cases of multiple draws of the same person in the calendar year. In these cases, the organizer will calculate the advance income tax and deduct the tax withholding simultaneously with the calculation of another income in accordance with applicable regulations. Any other tax obligations or additional income tax payments in accordance with the annual income tax decision are the responsibility of the winners.

The organizer requires a tax number in the Republic of Slovenia if the participating winner is in the prize game. If the necessary information is not provided by the prize recipient, the organizer will not award the prize.

12. Other Provisions
In an exceptional case of the premature termination of the prize game for reasons beyond its control (force majeure, etc.), the organizer reserves the right to award prizes among those who participated in the prize game until the moment of termination or to not complete the prize game without any obligations towards the participants, or to terminate it. The organizer must inform participants through the media in these cases. The organizer is not liable for any resulting damage in these cases.

The organizer’s decision regarding all matters related to the prize game and the rules associated with it is final and applies to all participants. In the event of any dispute or ambiguity, these rules are considered primary in relation to any other publications, whether in printed, electronic, or any other form. The authentic interpretation of these rules is exclusively determined by the organizer. The organizer reserves the right to change these rules and conditions of participation in the prize game if legal, technical, or commercial reasons require it. Participants will be informed of any changes through a notice on the organizer’s website.

For any disputes related to the prize game that cannot be resolved amicably, the competent court in Ljubljana is responsible.

These rules come into effect on the date of acceptance.
