On 4th December 2025, the 2nd National Citizen Science Event, titled “Discover, Collaborate, Explore,” took place in Ljubljana. The event was attended by Dr. Matevž Bokalič and Matej Guštin on behalf of the AURORA project.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for researchers, citizens, and all those interested in the field of citizen science to meet, exchange experiences, and shape a vision for the future of this dynamic field.
At the heart of the event was an in-depth discussion on the significance, role, and contribution of citizen science in the contemporary research environment. Special emphasis was placed on exploring the possibilities for organising a Citizen Science Network, analysing current trends in international organisations, and integrating citizen science into the broader context of open science.
Various innovative practices and projects were presented as examples of successful citizen engagement in research processes. Participants had the opportunity to hear about and discuss practical improvements and innovations introduced in different citizen science projects.
At the event a strong and effective platform for dialogue was established, strengthening cooperation among researchers, citizens, and other stakeholders. The goal of the event was to encourage the exchange of experiences and the formation of partnerships that will contribute to the further development and promotion of citizen science as a key element of an open and innovative research community.
