On 13 September 2024, Universitetets Energifællesskab F.M.B.A (UEF), the solar cooperative of AURORA’s demonstration in Aarhus, got approval from the local distribution system operator to connect its crowdfunded installation to the grid.
The rooftop photovoltaic installation has been turned on since then, and it has already produced more than 6 MWh of energy.
Most of the energy produced is consumed on site by Aarhus University.
“It took longer than expected to get the permission but we are glad that the installation is in operation and we get some green energy”, says Marta Victoria, board member of UEF and project lead of AURORA in Aarhus.
“The next step is to monitor and share data from the facility. We believe it is important to be transparent and communicative with members. The data will be displayed publicly, and we hope this will not only motivate our member but also inspire others.”
The AURORA team at Aarhus University has already started discussion with partners INSCICO and QPV Qualifying Photovoltaics to make plans for monitoring and data sharing.
