AURORA discussed challenges in demonstration in Aarhus at international conference

From 9th to 14th Jun 2024, Marta Victoria, leading the AURORA demonstration at Aarhus University, attended the 52nd IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference held in Seattle, US.

Every year, the conference brings together leaders in photovoltaics from around the world to share photovoltaic-related topics ranging from science and manufacturing to deployment and policy. At this year’s conference, a particular session was set up focusing on increasing solar PV adoption through a two-pronged approach involving (1) user behaviour, and (2) development of a skilled workforce through early engagement of students.

At this session, Marta made a presentation about project AURORA’s demonstration in Aarhus. In particular, she discussed challenges and strategies for establishing the crowdfunded rooftop photovoltaic system engaging students at Aarhus University (Denmark). Some of the challenges encountered include legal and administrative barriers, technical difficulties, to name a few.

Despite the challenges, project AURORA in Aarhus made progress since the conference, and we managed to crowdfund and install the photovoltaic systems on two rooftops at Aarhus University this summer.
