On December 11th, the Madrid demonstrator launched a collaborative funding campaign to support the energy transformation of the Palomeras Cultural Center School. This ambitious €150,000 project aims to install a 43 kWp photovoltaic system and two heat pumps to replace the school’s existing gas boilers, all through citizen participatory loans.
In a hopeful and inspiring event, the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) community and the school’s educational team presented the project, in collaboration with Ecooo, the company responsible for managing the initiative.
The campaign is set to run for three months with many different actions at the UPM and the school. During this period, major media outlets such as RadioTelevisión Española (minute 8) and El Confidencial have covered the story. Additionally, with the support of the European Climate Pact Office, the campaign has been promoted in various other media, including El Salto, Econoticias, Solar News, IndustriaAmbiente, and Interempresas, among many others.
Two months into the campaign, 128 people have already committed to the initiative, raising 66% of the required funding. As we enter the final month, we continue to build momentum and hope that more citizens will join us in securing the remaining 33% of the necessary funds.
This project is a powerful demonstration of the ability of citizens to drive change, supporting local initiatives that create not only environmental impact but also meaningful social transformation.
