On November 14th, Afonso Cavaco from the AURORA team in Évora delivered a keynote speech at the Social Innovation and Partnerships for Climate Justice conference, hosted by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation. This event, held as part of the C. Roads ERASMUS+ Project, aimed to foster meaningful conversations about climate change and mobilize communities toward climate justice.
Afonso’s presentation, titled Climate Change: What Comes Next, and What Can We Do?, highlighted AURORA’s initiatives to tackle climate change. Key focus areas included the creation of Renewable Energy Communities, citizen empowerment, and the innovative AURORA Energy Tracker app, which is designed to help individuals engage actively in the energy transition.
The audience, a mix of local citizens and international partners from the C. Roads project showed great interest, sparking engaging discussions on topics such as renewable energy, energy transition, and community-driven solutions. The event underscored a great willingness among participants to embrace sustainable practices and support efforts that prioritize future generations.
This keynote not only shed light on AURORA’s impactful work but also strengthened the collective resolve to take action for a sustainable and just future, whilst seeking to foster new partnerships against climate change.
