Biography

Kamila Konik is a young researcher specializing in energy systems, climate policy, and sustainability. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management (MESPOM EMJMD), focusing on energy self-sufficiency and urban energy transitions. Her research explores building retrofits, decentralized energy solutions, and policy-driven climate resilience, utilizing Python-based modeling, GIS, and policy analysis. Kamila holds a bachelor’s degree in Technical Physics and gained hands-on experience at the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), where she contributed to an EU-funded project (SiNERGY). She also interned at the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Poland, working on energy efficiency policies and the integration of EU directives into national frameworks. Beyond academia, Kamila has been actively engaged in environmental advocacy and sustainable event management. As a European Green Deal Ambassador, she co-organized an Erasmus+ exchange and the low-environmental-impact FRUŃ Festival. She also served as Vice President of an NGO, leading eco-travel education initiatives. Kamila is passionate about energy independence, climate mitigation and resilience, and innovative policy solutions.

Motivation

I have a strong interest in bottom-up energy solutions, researching them, and implementing smart policies. Ideally, I want to work on energy independence, promote its concept, and bring feasible solutions and know-how to communities and individuals. I am eager to learn from existing experiences and specialists, get involved in research, and help promote and spread the AURORA ideas.
