Seville, June 12, 2025 — TheĀ AURORA initiative, led by theĀ Universidad PolitĆ©cnica de Madrid (UPM)Ā through itsĀ Campus Sur Citizen Lab, has received aĀ special mention (accĆ©sit)Ā in theĀ Education, Awareness and Disseminationcategory at the prestigiousĀ EnerAgen 2025 Awards.

The recognition was granted during the 16th edition of the awards, held at the historic Real AlcÔzar of Seville and organized by the Andalusian Energy Agency, in collaboration with the national network of regional energy agencies.

🌱 Education Through Participation

AURORA’s Citizen Lab stood out for itsĀ innovative and inclusive approach to energy education, engaging a diverse community of university students, faculty, staff, and local residents in collaborative learning and climate action.

The jury highlighted the initiative’s ability to:

  • Blend science, creativity, and civic engagementĀ to address energy challenges at the local level.
  • Empower citizens, especially youth, through workshops, seminars, and real-life energy transition projects.

The Citizen Lab’s activities extend beyond the campus, creating bridges between the university and its surrounding neighborhoods. Children from local schools have joined university students in hands-on learning experiences that demystify clean energy and promote collective responsibility.
