Mads Bendixen

I started my career as a marine microbiologist specializing in biogeophysics in top sediment, but my passion for storytelling and connecting people with science quickly led me down a different path. I began working in public outreach, focusing on the ocean and marine biodiversity in Danish waters. My goal was to raise awareness about the dangers marine life faces, such as hypoxia caused by extensive agriculture and the overuse of our seas. For several years, I toured Danish waters, teaching high school and preschool students about marine ecosystems and the challenges they face. These experiences deepened my commitment to making complex scientific knowledge accessible and engaging for all audiences. Today, I am the Director of Outreach and Education at the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center (CORC). In this role, I collaborate with researchers to promote their groundbreaking work to stakeholders and the broader public. Whether through storytelling or strategic communication, I strive to make cutting-edge research resonate with people outside of academia, bridging the gap between science and society.
