The Študentski energetski klub / Student Energy Club (ŠEK) invited students to coffee and donuts at an event organized by ŠEK in collaboration with the Laboratory for Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics (LPVO) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana. The event aimed to attract and inform students from various disciplines about ŠEK and its activities. The event took place on December 21, 2022, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in an open transitional informal space, with the organizers hoping to attract randomly present students to join the event.

At the beginning, students were presented with information about the AURORA project, which had led to the formation of the energy community, named the Student Energy Club (ŠEK) and was now part of the Slovenia (Ljubljana) demosite. The AURORA project in Ljubljana set out to create this community of young people who are aware of the importance of the energy transformation needed to tackle climate change and are ready to take the initiative and act “from the bottom up.” ŠEK is an example of an energy community envisaged by the AURORA project. ŠEK is now developing independently into other areas of activity, even broader than those planned by the AURORA project.

The opening speech was given by Prof. Dr. Marko Topič, who introduced the importance of renewable energy sources and the green transition, which are key to quality employment in both the present and future.

The purpose of the event was to present ŠEK as a platform for activities in the field of energy transformation and renewable energy sources. The planned activities of ŠEK include visits to energy facilities, invited lectures, and roundtable discussions. Over 80 students attended the event. During the presentation, which was conducted by Dr. Matevž Bokalič and Matej Guštin, the students were able to express their views using the Slido application, which enabled them to vote and answer various questions posed on the video wall using multiple QR codes.
