On 25th April 2025, AURORA team member Parisa Rahdan successfully defended her PhD thesis.

During her PhD study at Aarhus University, Parisa explored fundamental questions about transforming the European energy system, focusing on solar PV and demand management. Using an open-source macro-energy model, she investigated the potential of rooftop solar and innovative technologies like solar tracking to accelerate the green transition and enhance energy independence in Europe.

In addition to exploring different business models for energy communities across 5 European countries, project AURORA aims to encourage citizens to make behavioural changes to reduce the energy demand. This is in turn used as input to improve the energy model used in Parisa’s research.

Parisa’s thesis available for reading at the Graduate School of Technical Sciences/GSTS, Aarhus University.
