Biography

When Sam decided to extend his small cottage home in Warwickshire in early 2012 it started him on a journey that inspired the creation of an ECO Housing company in mid 2020, after making the tough decision to leave his long term career as IT Development Sales and Marketing Director. Over the 4 years between 2020-2024 the company undertook four Deep Retrofit projects – two of which were 1600 heritage cottages. Having decided to put the company on hold, mostly due to borrow costs, Sam has looked to take the knowledge and skills acquired and help spread the word of Retrofit and make people aware of not only the carbon saving elements of the work but also how these works can help others areas such as health, property condition, value and making properties suitable for the climate changes that we are already experiencing.

Motivation

Reducing the carbon emissions from residential homes has been a key driver, with 30% of the national total being generated from homes throughout the UK. These goals can be achieved in addition to helping people keep themselves warm in winter, cool in summer, avoid flooding and storm damage and have better health through ventilation and clean air in their properties. Bringing new energy and heating opportunities to residents that offer cheaper, cleaner options and help bring communities together is another key goal of Sam’s, to help with the huge task of getting Britain to its Carbon Free goal.
