A new information screen has been installed in the canteen area at Nobelparken at Aarhus University, giving students, staff, and visitors a closer look at the crowdfunded solar installation developed as part of the AURORA project in Aarhus.
The AURORA project brings together universities, citizens, and local organizations to test and promote new models for energy communities. At Aarhus University, this has resulted in a solar cooperative Universitetes Energifællesskab F.M.B.A (UEF), which has crowdfunded the installation of 98 kW solar photovoltaic system on the rooftop of two buildings in Nobelparken.
The screen highlights the background and goals of the project, and in the near future it will also display real-time electricity generation data from the solar PV installation. This means everyone in the canteen will be able to see how much clean energy is being produced at that very moment.
“This isn’t just about displaying numbers—it’s about making the impact of community-based renewable energy visible in everyday life,” said Marta Victoria, who leads the AURORA project at Aarhus University. “By integrating the data into a social space like the canteen, we hope to inspire more conversations and awareness around solar energy.”
