Oceanographer and Environmentalist. Founder and CEO Smart Blue Lab, a company specialized in sustainable blue economy, R+D+i and ecological transition, researcher, mentor of BlueTech and CleanTech Startups, and ambassador of the European Climate Pact (European Commission).
Maria has a wide professional experience related, especially, to the ecological transition, sustainable blue economy, R&D&I and the direction, design and management of projects and grants from public and private funds from different fields: academia, business, administration, politics and NGOs. Working in institutions as diverse as the high-tech business incubator specializing in blue economy Incubazul, the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), a Local Action Group of the Fishing Sector, the Campus of International Excellence of the Sea, the multinational Ferrovial or the Congress of Deputies of Spain. From Smart Blue Lab he promotes and accompanies companies and public and private entities in the ecological transition and decarbonization.
She has international experience thanks to her participation in projects, academic stays, forums and international initiatives. She has been selected Ambassador of the European Union Climate Pact by the European Commission and DG Climate (2021-present) and Leader in Innovation and Circular Economy by the Advanced Leadership Foundation (2018) and, in addition, she is a member, consultant and collaborator of various entities, platforms and national and international media.
