The AURORA PROJECT has now set up and is leading a global working group on Citizen Science and climate change mitigation. The group has ambitious goals to identify three or four common Citizen Science methods to tackle climate change mitigation at scale across both the EU and the globe. The group has attracted nearly 30 interested parties from across the planet and has now established three working groups two of which are led by EU Climate Pact Ambassadors and the third by the Co-Chair of the Citizen Science team in New Zealand.
The groups will research current Citizen Science methods, including the AURORA Project and draft a report outlining how the best could be taken forward as global Citizen Science programs. At UNEA7 a delegation of citizen scientists will make the case for funding and/ or support in kind from the largest commercial and business interests, philanthropic organisations, Member States and global public sector bodies. The working group is supported by the EU Climate Pact and the Citizen Science Global partnership.
It is jointly Chaired by Ana Belén Cristobél and Martin Brocklehurst from the AURORA PROJECT and by Rusty Lowe from the GLOBE program in the United States. It is an exciting opportunity for the AURORA PROJECT.
