Biography

Susan Wanjiru Mwangi is a passionate educator and youth mentor dedicated to empowering grassroots communities. She currently serves as an adjunct lecturer at the Institute for Social Transformation at Tangaza University in Nairobi, Kenya Tangaza University – Teaching Minds, Touching Hearts, Transforming Lives). In addition to her teaching role, she coordinates the Laudato Si activities at the university, a position focused on promoting integral ecology and addressing various sustainability issues on campus university Laudato SI – IST Tangaza (https://ist.tangaza.ac.ke/laudato-si/) . Susan holds a master’s degree in Gender and Development From University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing her PhD in Social Transformation, with a specialization in Sustainable Development. Her interests lie in regenerative agriculture and the circular economy, particularly in the sustainable management of organic waste.

Motivation

Why I want to become an AURORA ambassador; As an educator focused on community development and climate change, joining the AURORA network offers a valuable opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals. This network would allow me to share and exchange knowledge that can bring about meaningful change in communities. Additionally, it provides a platform to collaborate on projects that not only contribute to personal growth but also have the potential to positively impact the lives of the communities I serve. Interested in circular economy and regenerative agriculture practices and permaculture as ways to support communities in the margins.
