Biography

Katie is a passionate advocate for community-led climate action and social enterprise. While studying at university, Katie co-founded Foodprint, a community interest company tackling food waste and food poverty in Nottingham. This experience sparked an ensuing commitment to using business and community action as a force for good. Since then, Katie has worked with environmental charities and collectives in France and Japan and has managed a sustainable business network in Bristol, supporting organisations in their transition to Net Zero. Currently, Katie is a Climate Change Community Programme Advisor at the Forest of Dean District Council, where they take a co-benefits approach, ensuring climate action delivers equitable benefits for communities. Through this role, they engage residents, community groups, and local councils in shaping a sustainable future. As an AURORA Ambassador, Katie is committed to supporting community energy in the Forest of Dean and promoting initiatives across the district.

Motivation

I believe in the power of community-driven climate action. My work, from co-founding a CIC to supporting businesses and councils in their sustainability journeys, has taught me the importance of local engagement and collaboration. The AURORA project embodies this approach, empowering people to take charge of their energy future. I am excited to be an AURORA Ambassador, helping to sustain its impact in the Forest of Dean and share learnings to inspire others to action. By championing citizen-led energy projects, we can create a fairer, more resilient, and sustainable future for all.
