Seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7)

Nairobi Kenya
8-12 December 2025

Project AURORA will join the Citizen Science Global Partnership (CSGP) delegation to UNEA-7. The project attended the first meeting of members who will make up the delegation today (Tuesday, 13th May 2025). With inputs from the former Chief Scientist UNEP, the Deputy Director of the GLOBE programme and leading citizen scientists worldwide, the delegation will make the case for a global citizen science programme to tackle climate change mitigation. There are plans to apply for a formal Member State side event at UNEA, an NGO Green Room event and participation at the parallel United Nations Science Policy Business Forum (UNSPBF).

By December, we expect 3-4 methods agreed for citizens worldwide to take part in this programme and declare their carbon footprint for all to see on a global dashboard. We aim to encourage people to change and accelerate our journey to net-zero carbon. It is time for action from citizens around the world, and it’s time we changed.

Use the AURORA Energy Tracker app and understand the impact you are having on the world.
