BISOL & Gorenje/Hisense

On Friday, 23 May 2025, the Student Energy Club (ŠEK), in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, successfully organised another technical excursion for students interested in the future of energy and cutting-edge industry. This time, the journey led us eastwards across Slovenia to visit two major industrial players – BISOL e Gorenje/Hisense.

We began the day at BISOL Group, the largest European manufacturer of photovoltaic panels, based in Prebold. Following an in-depth company presentation and an overview of their global market role, students were taken on a guided tour of the production facility. Step by step, they observed the entire manufacturing process of PV panels – from raw materials to the final product. The tour offered a direct insight into high levels of automation, rigorous quality control, and the technological innovation driving renewable energy solutions.

The next stop was Velenje, where we visited the internationally renowned company Gorenje/Hisense. The visit began with corporate presentations covering the group’s development strategy and human resource priorities, followed by a special highlight—an ascent to the factory’s highest viewing platform. From this vantage point, we enjoyed a panoramic view of the numerous solar power plants installed on the industrial complex’s rooftops—a clear demonstration of the company’s commitment to sustainability.

Naturally, no journey through this region would be complete without a stop at Trojane. On our way there, we picked up freshly baked Trojane doughnuts to enjoy during the ride, and later returned for a group lunch to round off the day.

This excursion offered students a valuable opportunity to experience first-hand the technological processes, business strategies, and sustainable practices of leading companies. Bridging theory with practice remains one of ŠEK’s core missions, and similar visits are already being planned for the near future.
