Climate change is happening here and now! Following the worst fire in history last summer, Slovenia has been hit by its worst natural disaster in history this summer. Two-thirds of Slovenia has been affected by record floods, and the damage is unimaginable. Thousands of people have been evacuated, hundreds rescued, bridges and roads have been destroyed. The situation is slowly calming down, but there are still areas that are completely cut off and accessible only by helicopter.
Mentors from the Student Energy Club set out to address the aftermath of the catastrophic floods in the town of Komenda, where water inundated houses up to a height of 1.1 meters. In doing so, we joined the members of ŠEK and many other Slovenians who are addressing the consequences of the floods throughout Slovenia.
