Biography

PhD in Agricultural Engineering from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Agrónomos (ETSIA) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (1996), I am a research professor at the Energy Systems Analysis Unit of the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT) of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation since 2013. My main research activities have focused on the economic evaluation of external costs and benefits (externalities) associated with energy production and consumption, the sustainability assessment of energy technologies and processes from a life cycle perspective, using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools, extended Input Output models and the modelling of energy systems using techno-economic partial equilibrium optimisation models. I have participated in more than 40 European Commission and national research projects and have participated as evaluator in several national and international R&D programmes. I have coordinated the H2020 project MUSTEC (Market uptake of Solar Thermal Electricity through Cooperation), and I am currently coordinating the ECF4CLIM project (A European Competence Framework for a Low Carbon Economy and Sustainability Through Education), funded by H2020 and focused on the development of a European competence framework on climate change and sustainability for the education community (2021-2025).

Motivation

We are interested in being able to use the tools, methodologies and other materials being developed in AURORA in our project and to make them known to our network of demonstration sites. We are also interested in the possibility of jointly ‘exploiting’ the calculator being developed in AURORA and the one we are developing in ECF4CLIM.
