Biography

I work as an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics to Information and Communication Technologies at the Technical University of Madrid. My field of research is education on social responsibility, sustainability and professional ethics in engineering studies. I have been involved in projects aimed at integrating these skills in engineering curricula. In addition to curses in the area of Mathematics, I take part in courses related to the ethical and social issues of technology, from a humanistic approach of technological development. I am a member of the ITD-UPM (Innovation and Technology for Development Centre), of the Research Group on Sustainable Organisations, and co-coordinator of the EELISA community ‘Ethics, Social Commitment & Entrepreneurship’.

Motivation

I knew the AURORA project through university colleagues and I saw that it was aligned with my aim of connecting academic activity with society, of building a university that is close to people’s problems and that contributes to tackling local and global challenges. From my experience in my university centre I have tried to promote the knowledge and involvement of the university community in AURORA, facilitating its dissemination and participation.
