Biography

Keith is the Director of the Local & Community Empowerment team, assisting groups across the country to receive funding and the support they need to create change in their community. Keith has over a decade’s worth of experience in working with civil society organisations, governments and community groups around the world to help them achieve their social and environmental goals. Since starting with CSE, Keith has advised on numerous community energy projects across the UK and increased engagement with disengaged groups, previously disconnected from the community energy movement. Keith began his career at Plan UK, focussing on community development, where his work took him to live in Haiti and Mali. Subsequently Keith joined WWF where he first led the delivery of the organisation’s people-centred conservation programme and then most recently supported the development and strengthening of WWF’s offices in the global East and South. Keith has experience in the delivery of large-scale and multi-stakeholder projects with skills in project design and planning, communication, partnerships, financial management, engagement and learning.

Motivation

Keith was involved in the initial set up of the AURORA Forest of Dean pilot and supported the initial creation of the Forest Community Energy group to drive forward AURORA activities locally. Through his role at the Centre for Sustainable Energy as director of the Local and Community Empowerment Team and as an advocate for community energy more generally, he is keen to promote the programme and feed back insights into other projects and policy work to support the growth of the community energy sector more widely in the UK.
