The AURORA project will be represented at the Seventh Session of the United Nations from 8 – 12 December 2025 in Nairobi Kenya by Ana Bélen Cristóbel López  and Martin Brocklehurst.  UNEA7 is the highest environmental decision making body on the planet and will this year focus on

“Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet”

The AURORA project has been leading a global Citizen Science Climate Change Mitigation Working Group (CSCCM)  for nearly 6 months.  The group is supported by the EU Climate Pact, the EU Green Deal Support Team (GDSO)  the Citizen Science Global Partnership and the US based Next Generation GLOBAL Collaborative.  The CSCCM will release a report “ A Global Citizen Science Programme for Climate Change” at the time of UNEA7 and seek partners, financial and technical support at UNEA7 to bring this vision into reality in 2026.  Underpinning this aspiration is the belief that 4 EU funded  projects; AURORA/GRECO; PSLifestyle; Fulfill; and STEP Change have the potential to go global and support ordinary people can contribute to reducing carbon emissions.

Martin Brocklehurst an AURORA Partner who leads the citizen Science Delegation to UNEA7 said

“This is our time to show citizen science can make a difference to climate change.  We are not helpless bystanders in the face of global failure to keep climate change temperature increase below 1.5C.  We the people can and will make a difference.”
