This rooftop solar PV installation will reduce carbon and electricity bill costs for the building operators. Our community solar installation is in Lydney, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freedom-leisure.co.uk\/centres\/freedom-leisure-lydney\/\">Lydney Leisure Centre<\/a> and the adjoining secondary school <a href=\"https:\/\/thedeanacademy.org\/\">The Dean Academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AURORA Project set up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forestcommunityenergy.org.uk\/\">Forest Community Energy (FCE)<\/a> to support this work and develop replication projects.&nbsp; FCE has collaborated with <a><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/bigsolar.coop\/\">Big Solar Co-op<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gloscommenergy.org.uk\/\">Gloucestershire Community Energy Co-op Ltd<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gwentenergycic.org\/\">Gwent Energy CIC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdean.gov.uk\/\">Forest of Dean District Council<\/a> to identify more local community buildings for rooftop solar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, this approach has been replicated at <a href=\"https:\/\/thespeechhouse.co.uk\/\">The Speech House Hotel<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/sl\/fd-news\/forest-community-energy-support-a-local-community-hub-get-solar\/\">Sling Community Hub<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><strong><strong>Community Solar at Lydney Leisure Centre \u2013 in Progress<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"641\" height=\"489\" data-id=\"8783\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Community-solar-page_FOD_4.jpg\" alt=\"Image showing solar PV array design on roof swimming pool. In July 2025\u00a0national government paused all consents for solar power purchase agreements, an essential part of community solar. This pause was lifted in October 2025.
