Today, as we handed over the prize\u2014a six-pack of Trojan doughnuts\u2014we had the pleasure of speaking with Zala Burnik, the winner of the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile application user draw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zala Burnik is a student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana. She first learned about the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile application and the AURORA project through social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I would occasionally receive notifications that my friends had liked posts from the AURORA Ljubljana or \u0160EK (Student Energy Club) profiles. That piqued my curiosity, so I decided to explore these profiles myself. That\u2019s how I came across the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile application. I downloaded it and have now been using it for three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, most of my entries in the app relate to transport, as determining the share of my energy consumption and costs in student accommodation would be rather complicated. I don\u2019t want to overcomplicate my life with that. However, when it comes to transport, I do. Now, I clearly understand my carbon footprint for any type of journey, whether local or long-distance. The difference between public and individual transportation is striking\u2014except, of course, for cycling. Besides having a zero-carbon footprint, cycling also offers significant health benefits. It would be great if the app could also track these health benefits.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how Zala Burnik summarised her experience with the AURORA Energy Tracker mobile application. Since she resides in a student dormitory in Ljubljana, she has also shared her experience with her fellow residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
