The community of students involved in energy issues as part of the Aurora project soon grew into a diverse group of students from various scientific fields. The idea of forming a more formal club to continue their work was born, leading to the establishment of the Student Energy Club \u0160EK (\u0160tudentski energetski klub). This club is composed of students from the University of Ljubljana who are interested in working in the field of energy. The approach taken by the club to dealing with energy topics is very broad, making membership appealing to students studying natural sciences, as well as those studying social sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Energy is an issue that affects everyone, and the Student Energy Club recognizes the importance of engaging students from diverse academic backgrounds in conversations about energy. By bringing together students from different disciplines, the club is able to foster a more holistic understanding of energy-related issues and promote more comprehensive solutions. Additionally, the club’s focus on energy issues provides an opportunity for students to engage in real-world problem-solving and develop practical skills that will serve them well in their future careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through its activities and initiatives, the Student Energy Club aims to promote a culture of sustainability and responsible energy use among students, as well as the wider community. This is a critical goal, given the significant impact that energy has on the lives of all residents, whether they are aware of it or not. The Student Energy Club (SEC) is an important organization that aims to raise awareness and facilitate the exchange of views among students on energy-related issues. To support this mission, SEC has established a strong presence on various social media networks, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. These platforms allow the club to share press releases, articles, and other information about its activities and findings with a wider audience. In addition to its media efforts, SEC also works to connect with other non-governmental organizations that are active in the field of energy at the local level. By collaborating with these groups, SEC is able to learn from their expertise, share resources, and join forces on initiatives that promote the responsible use of energy. Overall, the Student Energy Club is dedicated to promoting knowledge and action on energy issues among students and the wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Student Energy Club is highly active in both organizing its own events and attending events organized by others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the fall of 2022, \u0160EK participated in the FUTURE ZERO event<\/a>, where it had its own stand and exhibited a photovoltaic module from Bisol. This attracted a large number of visitors and helped to raise awareness about the club’s work and energy-related issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2022, both AURORA and \u0160EK were presented at the Extracurricular Activities Day event<\/a> held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. This was a great opportunity for the club to connect with students from other faculties and share its knowledge and expertise on energy issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December 2022, \u0160EK started a series of its own presentation events at various faculties of the University of Ljubljana, beginning with a successful event named \u0160EK invites you to coffee and donuts at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana<\/a>. These events provided an opportunity for the club to showcase its work and engage with students on energy-related topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January 2023, \u0160EK was invited by the Center for Extracurricular Activities of the University of Ljubljana to participate in an online extracurricular activities fair<\/a>. The club was recognized for its relevance and interdisciplinarity, as it is suitable for students from all faculties of the University. This was another great opportunity for the club to promote its mission and engage with students interested in energy-related topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2023, \u0160EK held a high-profile online lecture on sustainable living and e-mobility<\/a>, followed by a longer debate. This event attracted a diverse range of attendees and provided a forum for discussing important energy-related issues. The event was held as part of ECO Month February, organised by the Centre for Extracurricular Activities of the University of Ljubljana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March 2023, we took part in the Climate Strike<\/a>, an event that took place simultaneously in Ljubljana and Maribor. This year, the slogan of the strike was “Promises of various kinds are still empty”. The event was organised by the Youth for Climate Justice movement, with whom we share a common view on energy and transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the Student Energy Club is committed to organizing and participating in events that promote awareness of energy issues and sustainable practices. These events provide valuable opportunities for the club to engage with students from a variety of disciplines and share its knowledge and expertise on important energy-related topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
