The purpose of this activity is to support the council to create an enabling environment for community energy projects to thrive in the Forest of Dean, creating a legacy for the energy community beyond AURORA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cPriority Asks\u201d were developed using findings from discussions with Forest Community Energy members, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/de\/fd-news\/forest-community-energy-public-engagement-event-a-great-success\/\">citizen engagement events<\/a> and stakeholder workshops such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/de\/fd-news\/aurora-forest-of-dean-participates-in-rural-climathon\/\">Rural Climathon<\/a>, throughout the course of the AURORA project so far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The document is split into three key priorities, each outlining key opportunities, blockers and challenges and actions in relation to the development and sustainability of energy communities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Priority 1: Increase rooftop solar PV projects in the Forest of Dean<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Priority 2: Support households with retrofit and home energy advice<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Priority 3: Support the growth of community energy activities in the Forest of Dean<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can read the full document here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" hidden class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/AURORA_FCE-Priority-Asks-full_Aug-2024_final.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Einbettung von AURORA_FCE Priority Asks full_Aug 2024_final.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-53e62f0c-b62b-4fb9-9389-0f3bedd63b87\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/AURORA_FCE-Priority-Asks-full_Aug-2024_final.pdf\">AURORA_FCE Priority Asks full_Aug 2024_final<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/AURORA_FCE-Priority-Asks-full_Aug-2024_final.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-53e62f0c-b62b-4fb9-9389-0f3bedd63b87\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The document comes at a time of great change in UK-energy policy with the introduction of a new government in July 2024, the development of Labour\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/labour.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Make-Britain-a-Clean-Energy-Superpower.pdf\">Local Power Plan<\/a> and the establishment of <a href=\"https:\/\/great-british-energy.org.uk\/\">Great British Energy<\/a>. The UK is entering a new phase of policy, funding, regulatory and structural changes to the energy system that will unlock the potential for local authorities and communities to work together to restructure the UK\u2019s energy economy, and fast track the transition to a net zero energy system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a more local scale, the Forest of Dean District Council is committed to climate action through its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdean.gov.uk\/media\/5cvhr4dn\/forest-of-dean-district-council-plan-2024-to-2028-v2.pdf\">Council Plan for the Forest of Dean District Council 2024-2028 \u2013 Responding to the Climate &amp; Nature Emergency for a Fairer Greener Forest<\/a>.
