{"id":5786,"date":"2023-10-23T09:08:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T07:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/?post_type=ul-news&#038;p=5786"},"modified":"2023-10-23T12:35:25","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T10:35:25","slug":"aurora-project-to-visit-the-largest-solar-power-plant-in-slovenia","status":"publish","type":"ul-news","link":"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/da\/ul-news\/aurora-project-to-visit-the-largest-solar-power-plant-in-slovenia\/","title":{"rendered":"AURORA project to visit the largest solar power plant in Slovenia"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your chance to join the AURORA Student Energy Club (\u0160EK) to visit the Bre\u017eice Solar Power Plant, the largest solar power plant in Slovenia, in April 2024.&nbsp; Just a few places will be reserved for students from other Universities so act quickly if you do not want to be disappointed.&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The AURORA Student Energy Club (\u0160EK) from Ljubljana University is organizing an educational excursion in April 2024, for students to visit the Bre\u017eice Solar Power Plant, currently, the largest solar power plant in Slovenia, see &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/list.solar\/news\/slovenias-largest\/\">https:\/\/list.solar\/news\/slovenias-largest\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also the only solar power plant in Slovenia connected to the 110 kV transmission grid.&nbsp; If you want to join them apply for the few places being held for students from other Universities&nbsp; &#8211; please contact Matej Gu\u0161tin at Ljubljana University at <a href=\"mailto:matej.gustin@fe.uni-lj.si\">matej.gustin@fe.uni-lj.si<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The excursion will give students practical experience of a real solar power plant, to build on their theoretical knowledge in the field of renewable energies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The Bre\u017eice solar power plant is located next to the Bre\u017eice hydroelectric power plant, covering an area of six hectares. Annual production is expected to be 6 800 megawatt hours, enough to meet the needs of 1,500 households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The solar power plant is installed on six hectares of land and comprises 11,232 panels and has a rated capacity of six megawatts. The special feature of this plant is its connection to the transmission grid and its hybrid operation in cooperation with the Bre\u017eice hydroelectric power plant. The Bre\u017eice solar power plant operates as the fourth unit of the Bre\u017eice hydroelectric power plant. This parallel mode of operation allows for optimization of the plant\u2019s operation. The flow storage of the Bre\u017eice hydropower plant is used as energy storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The construction of the solar power plant took one year and was completed in November 2022.
