However, with AURORA funding soon coming to an end, we are looking ahead with hope for a self-sustaining energy community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahead of Christmas 2024, we asked members to complete a survey so we could better understand their interests, skills, and capacity. This could look like continued administrative support, or collaborating with other local groups such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fodcap.co.uk\/\">Forest of Dean Climate Action Partnership<\/a> (FoDCAP). If FCE choose to work with FoDCAP, there will be an opportunity to get involved in incoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cse.org.uk\/my-community\/future-energy-landscapes\/\">Future Energy Landscapes<\/a> workshops. This is a community consultation tool used to drum up local support for wind turbines and\/or ground mounted solar projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where energy generation projects are concerned, drawing on <a href=\"https:\/\/gwentenergycic.org\/\">Gwent Energy CIC<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/gloscommenergy.org.uk\/\">Gloucestershire Community Energy Co-op\u2019s<\/a> expertise, and finding an engaged community hub suitable for an installation, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/theclubhousesling\/\">The Sling &amp; District Recreation Club<\/a> for members to rally behind could be an ideal first step. Taking learnings from other initiatives, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lockleazehub.org.uk\/lockleaze-loves-solar\">Lockleaze Loves Solar<\/a>, and incorporating guidance from the soon-to-be-published <em>Solar PV in the Forest of Dean<\/em> guide by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fodcap.co.uk\/\">FoDCAP<\/a> will also be important. Additionally, FCE recognize their role in connecting people to opportunities, including local schools with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarforschools.co.uk\/\">Solar for Schools<\/a> grants. Through this, FCE hope to generate and share more success stories, and add to the 18 Forest of Dean community buildings that have received decarbonisation support through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grcc.org.uk\/news-events\/news-events\/post\/279-the-forest-of-dean-rural-england-prosperity-fund-community-space-grants\">REPF<\/a>, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aurora-h2020.eu\/da\/2024\/12\/04\/lydney-solar-pv-project-achieves-key-milestones\/\">Lydney installations<\/a> from the AURORA project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FCE and the current climate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What became clear from this session, was whatever form the group takes, FCE will become increasingly important to ensure local voices are heard.
